Jacob's Blog

Today in class we learned about sea floor spreading in a lecture and worked on a worksheet towards the end of class. Sorry Mr. Welton for us talking during class... The good news is that the weather has been improving and today has been sunny and nice.

It's Avery!!

Hello. Today is Monday. The weather for today is....46 degrees fahrenheit, and it has rained. Last night it rained a lot, it was a storm, with thunder and lightning. The wind is coming from the north at 17 mph. It is 99% humid, the dew point is 46 degrees fahrenheit, and the pressure is 30.10 in. Today in class we had a lecture until we got in trouble and then we worked on our worksheet. Also, that picture is Pangaea, aka what it looked like when all the continents were connected. We got quite a lot of homework. We had 1.5 RNV, that worksheet, 2 1-page papers on 2 articles on plate tectonics from sciencedaily.com, you need supplies for tomorrow i think, and there is a test on Thursday. So you should study, because that's the ticket! :) According to usgs.gov, in the past week there has been 170 earthquakes. That's a lot! If you have not noticed, there has been no earthquakes in Kansas. So I think that's about it. Oh, also "that's what she wrote" is my new phrase. It's okay if you don't understand it, neither do i. Remember, that's the ticket- Avery.

Sarahs Blog again

So today is sunday....sorrry i was suppost to blog friday but when i got home after our car diego died shabbas had already started. So there was no time to blog because it was Shabbas. So today it was really overcast, i mean really overcast. The clouds dominated. Right now we are under a tornado warning or watch not sure but im scared. :o So anyways, according to the website (the one we had to look for earthquakes)
http://earthquake.usgs.gov

The Richter magnitude scale was developed in 1935 by Charles F. Richter of the California Institute of Technology as a mathematical device to compare the sizes of earthquakes.
Also according to the web site there have been 171 earthquakes today. WHAT A LOVELY FACT DONT YOU THINK?!!
Also i went to this J-serve community service thing today. I was very dissapointed to not see anyone from the class there! If you recall Mr. Welton last year you gave exrta credit for those who went. I think that i should so get extra credit. FYI it was very fun.
So peace out home dizzles for shizzles this has been a good blog. WORD.

Monday, April 20, 2009

Hey guys its Sam and today is the first day back at school, monday april 20. This sandwich above indeed looks appetizing. Anyway, today we did not get our tests back, but we were assigned a project in our new geology textbooks to make a scaled 3-d depiction of Earth' s crust, mantle and core. Today, groups of three were told to come up with a materials list, gameplan, and sketch for the project. I obviously did not do any drawing. I checked usgs.gov to look to the latest earthquake news and today there was a magnitude 4.7 off the coast of northern Japan bordering Russia, a magnitude 5.3 off the coast of South Korea and Japan, a magnitude 4.9 in Venezuala, a magnitude 5.5 in the Indonesian region of Banda Sea, and within the last hour there was a magnitude 5.4 earthquake that hit the South Pacific island of Tonga. The weather in Leawood is in the mid-sixties after a cold forty degreee start to the day. Now the sun is shining with scattered clouds as we are looking at no precipitation and 70 plus degree weather throughout the week. Cool beans, see you in two weeks.

Damage done by a recent Japanese earthquake.

It's Jacob

Today we didn't have science class because of the drills or something so nothing to report about that. The weather today was cool just below 40˚ and it's going to be cold tomorrow so bring jackets. Also, we have the big science test tomorrow so study up. Good Luck!
